WEEK 7/8 - story plan synopsis

My music video to the song ‘100 years’ by Florence and the Machine will follow the story of three different women from their own time periods fighting for women’s rights. The main message is to show this struggle and its relevance and necessity in this day and age. I plan to address this narrative and theme through imagery and media language.

Regarding social groups, I plan to represent a range of ages – including ages of the target audience – to highlight and exaggerate the different generations and their struggle. The eras which I will set these characters in are the 1920, 1970, and modern day (2010-2020) and by using mise-en-scene and the age  representation, I will be able to create a believable and immersive setting.

The video will also feature performative elements of the artist playing and singing along to the song. The inclusion of these sections will help to reinforce the audience’s belief in the artist’s connection and belief behind the message. As well as this, the performative elements will also help to build the artist’s image and make them more recognisable.
