Olympic Airways - FOALS, practice music video (January 2020)
what did I like
- I found that when the shots were cut to the beat it created an effective impact; the video had a good and quick pace which matched the song.
- I had 2 well defined locations with differing costumes and mise-en-scene. This kept the video interesting and gave it texture.
- I had a good range of different shots - e.g. tracking shots, zooming, close ups etc. This gave the video variation.
- I had good and varied shot duration to keep the video interesting and maintain momentum for the duration of the video.
- I was pleased with the environmental and sunlight shots. these provided a good atmosphere while also fitting in to the mise-en-scen and themes of the video.

what I didn't like
- Some of the shots are very shaky, especially when zooming in and moving. in future, I could take more care when shooting, or use a stabiliser for the camera. It is possible to fix this in editing, but i don't want to rely on the software when possible.
- I had to reuse a lot of my shots throughout the video, especially the aesthetic forest shots. To address this, I need to either plan extra footage, or film extra footage when shooting.
- I needed to retouch some of the shots colour wise to make them look less washed out and bleached. This is just an editing fault and will be addressed be having a keener eye.
- Some of the match cuts I attempted didn't quite match. I could possibly find a better method of attempting to create these shots, e.g. focusing on points or making a grid to align thing if the camera is moved between shots (which is what happened with my attempt).
